Hi to all at The Mag, hope you are well, an Aston Villa fan here in peace.
The article (Could still be Champions League bombshell dropped with 115 Manchester City charges) I’ve just read is on the money in some aspects…
…but the swipe at Villa ?
‘The hype surrounding Aston Villa over the last few weeks has been way over the top. It’s as if the media already know that the Septic Six cartel is on the verge of being permanently dismantled, but that they want their own self elected darlings Aston Villa to be the leaders of the revolution. Villa may have more strength in depth than Newcastle United but they aren’t a better or bigger club than us as things currently stand.’
You are right, a week is a long time in football.
Newcastle United were darlings for a week or two.
A deserved victory by Aston Villa against Newcastle and the dialogue changes.
As an old boy, I tend to see a different picture.
I love the fact that Newcastle, Forest and the Villa are in with a sniff, regardless of the competition.
Good supporters who have experienced lean times and are all well due some exciting times at our respective clubs.
It is good for the game and even followers of other teams are (quietly) pleased.
The ‘establishment’ and London press won’t like it.
That should inspire us collectively to shove it up em.
Newcastle are on the up.
Villa are on the up.
We probably won’t get a Champions League spot, because the squad look spent to me.
The plus side to this is that the lads will have more success in the League due to the schedule next season.
Maybe more solidarity and less bitching will help both Newcastle and Villa.
You can’t buy history or identity.
