Celtic FC Women continue their busy start to 2025 on Sunday as they get set for their first Glasgow derby outing of the year at New Douglas Park.

The Ghirls face off against Rangers this weekend in the semi-final of the Sky Sports Cup, with a place in March’s final up for grabs.

It has been a positive start to the year for the Hoops, with two wins from two, which has coincided with a change of shape to a back four.

For Amy Gallacher, that has meant a slight shift in position, forming up part of a midfield three in recent weeks.

Speaking to the press ahead of Sunday’s game, Gallacher reflected on that change, insisting that being fluid in their formation can only be a positive thing for the Hoops.

That was evident in Wednesday evening’s performance, which seen Amy Gallacher get back amongst the goals in the 8-0 win over Aberdeen.

She said: “Obviously we’ve changed system, but I think it is good as a squad and a team that we can play those different systems.

“We’ve got players who can play in different positions, which I think helps.

“When we come up against teams, that maybe don’t know the style of football that we are going to play with that versatility.

'So, I think it has only been positive. We’ve played it now for a few weeks, so, hopefully we can just keep working and getting better.'

“On Wednesday against Aberdeen, I was able to get in the box more and cross the ball, finish off moves,” Gallacher continued. “Creating chances for the team as a whole.

“So, I’m just happy to contribute in any way I can, no matter where I play on the pitch.”

The Hoops take momentum into Sunday’s game, following two home victories, which has seen them score a total of 12 goals against Partick Thistle and Queen’s Park.

Gallacher believes that their midweek performance is probably one of their best for a while, and she is now looking forward to taking that confidence into this weekend’s semi-final derby clash.

She said: “Wednesday was probably the best we have played in a while, and I think a lot of players are going into Sunday with a lot of confidence.

“Obviously, it’s a cup game and form goes out of the window. But it’s a Glasgow derby, so everybody will be up for it and ready to go.”

“Every game we play against Rangers is close. There is maybe points where we haven’t won them, but it’s always a game where there is competing for the entire 90 minutes.

'We just need to go in with confidence and hopefully we can advance to the next round, and get into a final.'
