Bayer Leverkusen attacker Amine Adli has bid farewell to his club’s fans ahead of a desired move to Bournemouth. The Moroccan international started and played 45 minutes in his Bundesliga club’s opening round cup fixture in Großaspach. Adli registered an assist on Patrik Schick’s opening goal in the 0-4 away win.
Afterwards, Adli visited the Leverkusen traveling supporters. The 24-year-old – with tears in his eyes – waved goodbye to the B04 fan block after receiving special recognition from the fans. Kicker nevertheless reports that Adli’s move to the Premier League is not a done deal yet.
The German magazine claims Germany’s red company team have not yet reached full agreement with the Cherries on a €30m transfer. In Kicker journalist Stephan van Nock’s words, letting Adli go would be “tactically unwise move that would exacerbate the team’s personnel shortage.”
Despite this, Adli’s move to the Isle will probably still go through. After he was subbed off at the half, starting wingback Nathan Tella moved up to take Adli’s place in attack. Tella – who actually has been vocal about the fact that he doesn’t like serving as a wingback – could take Adli’s place in the XI.
Leverkusen are still carrying an impossibly small 25-man-squad into the start of competitive play, but still have 16 days left in the transfer window to bring in new players. There are also at least three players on the current squad who can take Adli’s place.
