According to reports from Italy, the 56-year-old has signed a two-year deal, with an option to extend for a third season.

He steps in to replace Sérgio Conceição, who was dismissed on Thursday after Milan finished eighth in Serie A, missing out on European football.

Allegri led Milan to the Serie A title in 2011, his first major trophy as a manager, before going on to enjoy a highly successful spell with Juventus, winning five consecutive league titles between 2015 and 2019.

During his previous time in charge at the San Siro, Allegri oversaw 178 matches, winning 91, drawing 49, and losing 38.
