Women’s Euro 2025 has come to an end with England emerging as champions following their penalty shootout win over Spain, and here we take a look at all the records that were set in Switzerland.
Most goals at a Women’s Euros
Euro 2025 broke the record for the most goals at a single Women’s Euros – smashing the previous record set at Euro 2022.
Euro 2022 finished on 95 goals, while the only other previous tournament with 16 teams, Euro 2017, ended on 75.
In Switzerland, the record fell after the second quarter-final, with 106 goals scored across the 31 games.
Most goals in a single game
Spain’s 6-2 victory over Belgium equalled the record for most goals in a single game with eight.
It now holds the record alongside England’s 8-0 win over Norway at Euro 2022, Norway’s 5-3 win over Italy in 2005 and Germany’s 6-2 triumph over England in the final back in 2009.
Most different goalscorers in one team
England broke the record for most goalscorers in one team during Women’s Euro 2025 with 11.
Their list of scorers included; Keira Walsh, Lauren James, Georgia Stanway, Ella Toone, Lauren Hemp, Alessia Russo, Beth Mead, Aggie Beever-Jones, Lucy Bronze, Michelle Agyemang and Chloe Kelly.
Spain were not far behind the Lionesses with ten different scorers in their squad.
England also broke the record for most different players scoring for one team in a single game after Stanway, Toone, Hemp, Russo, Mead and Beever-Jones all registered during the 6-1 win over Wales.
Most goals in a group stage
Women’s Euro 2025 saw the most goals recorded in a group stage at the Women’s Euros with 89 across the 24 matches.
The most goals came from Group D with 29 – the highest netted from a single group at any Women’s Euros.
Group D Matchday 3 also holds the record for most goals on one day, after England’s 6-1 win over Wales and France’s 5-2 triumph over the Netherlands.
Michelle Agyemang wins Young Player of the Tournament
Michelle Agyemang was named as the Young Player of the Tournament after scoring off the bench in England’s victories over Sweden and Italy.
By doing so, she became the first black female footballer to win an individual award at the Women’s Euros.
Youngest player to score multiple goals in a game
Signe Gauspet underlined her potential as a star of the future after becoming the youngest player in Women’s Euros history to score multiple goals in the same game.
At the age of 20 years and 22 days, she scored two first-half goals in Norway’s 4-3 victory over Iceland.
Gauspet was involved in all four goals for Norway as she also provided the assist for their third and fourth goals.
Oldest player to score multiple goals in the same game
Italy striker Cristiana Girelli was the hero of the day when she scored a brace in their 2-1 quarter-final victory over Norway.
Girelli put Italy ahead and then scored the winner in extra-time following Ada Hegerberg’s equaliser.
Aged 35 years and 84 days, she broke the record held for 28 years by former Italian international Carolina Morace who was 67 days younger.
Oldest player to score in Women’s Euros history
Jess Fishlock became the oldest player to score in Women’s Euros history when she scored for Wales in their 4-1 defeat to France at Euro 2025.
At 38 years and 176 days, she broke the record set by Northern Ireland’s Julie Nelson, who was 37 years and and 33 days when she scored in a 4-1 loss to Norway at Euro 2022.
The goal was also Wales’ first-ever goal at a major women’s international tournament.
Most penalty shootout wins in one tournament
By beating Spain and Sweden on penalties, England became the first side in the tournament’s history to win two shootouts in the same Women’s Euros tournament.
The tournament also saw the most penalty shootouts in a single round with two in the quarter-finals.
England vs Spain was the third penalty shootout at the tournament, which also set a new landmark high at the Women’s Euros.
Biggest comeback in a knockout tie
No team in Women’s Euros history had gone 2-0 down and recovered to advance to the next round.
England looked to be on their way out when they were 2-0 down to Sweden after 78 minutes.
However, goals from Lucy Bronze and Michelle Agyemang took the game to extra-time.
The Lionesses would advance on penalties, despite Sweden twice needing just one successful penalty to win the tie.
Most goal involvements by substitutes for a team at a Women’s Euros
England substitutes were involved in 10 goals at Women’s Euro 2025.
This is the most by a team in a single edition of the tournament on record according to Opta.
Chloe Kelly and Michelle Agyemang played a huge part off the bench for England throughout the knockout phase.
Arsenal star Kelly’s impact has seen her Sports Personality of the Year odds slashed.
Most goals in a group stage
Spain matched England’s Euro 2022 total of 14 goals in a group stage at this summer’s tournament.
Montse Tome’s side put five goals past Portugal, six past Belgium and three against Spain.
Spain also broke the record for the most goals scored and against in a group stage with 17.
Latest goal to decide group qualification
Hosts Switzerland qualified for the knockout phase with the latest goal to decide group stage qualification in the tournament’s history.
Going into stoppage time in their clash with Finland, their opponents looked to be heading through as they held a 1-0 lead.
However, Riola Xhemaili scored in the second minute of stoppage time, with a goal that was enough to send Switzerland into the quarter-finals.
Record attendance
Women’s Euro 2025 smashed the total attendance record that was previously set in England three years ago.
The Euro 2022 tournament saw a total of 574,875 fans attend 31 games.
Euro 2025 in Switzerland broke the record with two games to play and finished at a total of 657,291.
That is an impressive achievement given the opening game in Euro 2022 attracted 68,871 fans at Old Trafford and the final drew in 87,192 supporters at Wembley Stadium.
However, Euro 2025 is the only Women’s Euros to average over 20,000 fans per game.
Record crowd for group stage game not involving the hosts
Germany’s 2-1 victory over Denmark in the group stage attracted a crowd of 34,165 at St. Jakob-Park.
Spain’s 5-0 triumph over Portugal earlier in the group stage held the record for a grand total of five days.
The pre-Euro 2025 record was Netherlands vs Switzerland in Sheffield at Euro 2022, which attracted 22,596 fans.
Record crowd for a quarter-final
St. Jakob-Park also broke the record for a quarter-final attendance at the Women’s Euros.
Germany’s penalty shootout win over France attracted a crowd of 34,128. Only Germany vs Denmark and England’s Euro 2025 final win over Spain (34,203) attracted larger crowds.
