Juventus can confirm the arrival of Alberto Costa, a young Portuguese defender born in 2003, who is ready to bring grit and quality to the Bianconeri's backline. Juventus and the player have signed a contract of employment until 30 June 2029.
Born on 29 September 2003 in Santo Tirso, Portugal, Alberto Costa’s physicality – standing 186cm tall - and technical skills make him a complete defender. At only 21 years old, he has already shown great maturity and tactical intelligence while starring in Portugal's top-flight, the Primeira Liga.
Alberto's career has exploded in recent seasons with Vitoria Guimaraes, where he has shown rapid growth. This season he has made 10 league appearances, four in the national cups and seven in international competitions, scoring his first goal in the UEFA Conference League.
· Only Martim Fernandes (born in 2006) is younger than Alberto Costa (born in 2003) among defenders who have provided at least two assists in the Portuguese Primeira Liga this campaign.
· The Brazilian is one of four defenders to have provided at least two assists in a single match in the current Portuguese Primeira Liga season, alongside Martim Fernandes, Francisco Moura and Pedro Amaral.
· The 21-year-old has played 10 matches in this league (the last six for the full 90 minutes), compared to just one match played across the 2023/24 campaign.
· Among defenders born from 2003 onwards, only Pedro Gomes (34) and Alvaro Carreras (33) have attempted more tackles than Alberto Costa (24) in the Portuguese Primeira Liga 2024/25.
· Only Keita Kosugi (2006) and Martim Marques (2004) are younger than Alberto Costa (2003) among defenders who have scored in the UEFA Conference League 2024/25.
With a mix of talent, determination and already significant experience despite his young age, Alberto Costa is a solid addition to the Juventus squad.
His ability to read defensive situations, combined with a good sense of positioning and willingness to push forward, make him an ideal profile for the Bianconeri project.
Bem-vindo, Alberto!
