Alan Varela earns first Argentina call-up

Alan Varela has been included in Lionel Scaloni's call-up for the upcoming commitments of the Argentina national team. It is the first time the FC Porto midfielder is part of the squad for the albiceleste team, where he will join Otamendi, a Benfica player who has also been called up.

Last week, both were already on the pre-selected list of the coach, which included 31 names. This Thursday, the final list was released, with 29 players. Argentina will face Venezuela and Ecuador in the early hours of September 5 and 10, respectively, in mainland Portugal time.
