Lionel Messi was close to getting Inter Miami's Club World Cup campaign off to a flying start

The revamped Club World Cup is officially underway, though we still await the first goal of the new-look tournament as Al Ahly drew 0-0 with Inter Miami in what was an entertaining Group A showdown.

In a game of two halves, it was the goalkeepers for both sides - Oscar Ustari and Mohamed El Shenawy - who ended up outshining the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets in Miami Gardens, Florida. Ustari was the star of the first-half, saving a penalty from ex-Aston Villa forward Trezeguet on top of other brilliant stops to keep the MLS side “alive”.

However, El Shenawy very much proved to be the Argentine’s equal in the second half as he made three world class saves - including tipping an effort from Messi on the crossbar in injury time - to ultimately ensure the Egyptian outfit a point left the Hard Rock Stadium with a point.
