Ajax are already moving for a Jorrel Hato replacement in Ko Itakura, after the Amsterdammers and Chelsea have agreed on a €44 million transfer fee.
According to Voetbal International, several names were considered for the position. Former Feyenoord player Jeremiah St. Juste was even mentioned at the Johan Cruyff Arena, but now it seems that 28-year-old Japan international Itakura is the man for the job.
The club has contacted both the player and Borussia Mönchengladbach and hopes to get him to Amsterdam soon. Ajax now need to reach a concrete agreement with Gladbach in order for the deal to be finalised.
Itakura, who previously played for FC Groningen in the Netherlands for two and a half years, is expected to cost around 10 million euros and is eager to join Ajax himself. He reportedly spoke with director of football, Marijn Beuker, during his trip to Japan.
