Serie A side Atalanta have rejected Inter’s two bids for Ademola Lookman and the attacker has taken a snipe at La Dea for their approach.
Earlier this week, Inter raised their bid for the Nigerian and this was followed by Lookman deleting every Instagram post involving Atalanta from his account.
Now, the former Europa League winner has taken to Instagram and has written about La Dea’s constant rejection of offers, making it clear that he seeks to leave the Bergamo club.
He wrote, via TMW: “Over the last three years at Atalanta, I’ve given my all. Not just as a player, but also as a person. I’ve always worn this jersey with pride and tried to best represent the club and the city of Bergamo with heart, passion, and dedication.”
“I came here with the hope of helping this special club grow, and together, we’ve created memories that I’ll cherish forever. Winning the Europa League and celebrating that night in Dublin, side by side with my teammates and our fans, was one of the best and most meaningful moments of my career. Even today, I get shivers thinking about it.”
“Atalanta, and especially its fans, have become a part of me. From day one, I felt at home, and I’ve always tried to reciprocate that love—even when, behind the scenes, it wasn’t easy.”
Indicating his desire to leave, the Nigeria international said: “This is precisely what makes writing these words so difficult. I’ve loved every single moment, but I feel that now, after three wonderful years in Bergamo, the right time has come to move on and embark on a new adventure.”
Lookman revealed that Atalanta had informed him that any promising offers will be considered but accused them of breaking promises as approaches from Inter have been pegged back.
“Several clubs have approached Atalanta in the past, but I’ve always chosen to stay loyal. However, the club’s owners and I agreed that now was the right time to leave, and I was clearly told that, if a fair offer was made, I would be allowed to leave.”
“Although an offer has now arrived that corresponds to what we agreed upon, unfortunately the club is rejecting it for reasons I don’t understand.”
He described all of this as unfair treatment from Atalanta towards him, making it clear that he has submitted a transfer request.
“For this reason, and after months of broken promises and what I perceive as unfair treatment towards me—both as a man and as a footballer—I feel, with regret, that I have no choice but to speak out for what I believe is right. I can confirm that I have officially submitted a transfer request.”
It remains to be seen if Inter make another offer or not, but this can now force Atalanta into reducing their demands for the attacker.
