An announcement date has been set for the official unveiling of Abdukodir Khusanov as a Manchester City players, according to new information.

The Premier League champions finalised an agreement with Ligue 1 side RC Lens earlier this month over a €40 million deal for the 20-year-old Uzbekistan international central defender, in a deal that is likely to make him the club’s first official arrival this month.

Khusanov is believed to have put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half year contract at the Etihad Stadium, and will come straight into Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad for the remainder of the ongoing campaign and beyond.

Having travelled into Manchester from Paris last week, with footage taken by those close to the youngster surfacing on social media, Khusanov has now undergone his various medical tests, signed all documentation, and is now formally a City player.

However, while images of the player posing alongside his new Manchester City shirt and Director of Football Txiki Begiristain have appeared online in the last hours, there remains no official announcement from the club.

According to the information of Uzbekistan Legionaries, who revealed that Abdukodir Khusanov will become Manchester City’s new number 45 in the squad, an official unveiling from the club will come on Monday 20 January.

It is further revealed that despite an announcement still pending, Khusanov has already trained at Manchester City on Saturday, meaning a debut for the club could come as soon as the Champions League meeting with Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.

Manchester City supporters are also awaiting the unveiling of Vitor Reis as a new player after the 19-year-old Brazilian defender arrived in the north-west of England last week to finalise a £29.5 million switch from Palmeiras.

The aforementioned defensive duo are expected to be accompanied by Eintracht Frankfurt and Egypt’s Omar Marmoush as new arrivals this month, with the 25-year-old Bundesliga star having seen the two clubs involved agree on a €75 million financial package earlier this week.

Manchester City could yet take their spending closer to the £150 million mark this month as the club continues to search for a new central midfielder, with Juventus’ Douglas Luiz among the potential options providing the deal is right.
