A big thank you to the close to 4,500 Salzburg fans in Madrid!

New away record at Champions League clash

Close to 4,500 fans were there to support our boys despite the over 1,500 kilometres in distance - more away support than our club has ever seen before! We have only one thing to say - thank you! The previous record of 4,100 Salzburg fans who came to support us at the San Siro against AC Milan was broken in impressive fashion on Wednesday night in Madrid.

It was obviously not going to be easy against reigning champions Real Madrid. Our Red Bulls started the game well and did not give up despite conceding a few goals, with Mads Bidstrup's spectacular consolation goal in the final stages giving the travelling fans something to cheer about.

I'm lost for words. To have close to 4,500 away fans in a stadium like that is just incredible - there is not much else I can say other than thank you!

We aren't taking it for granted, at all, that so many people would come from Salzburg to Madrid to support us - I have to thank them for that! We are looking forward now to playing Altetico with our fans behind us.

There will be one last Champions League night of the season for us - this Wednesday 29 January at 21:00 at our Red Bull Arena. It is not possible for us to make the knockout stages, but we are determined to finish our European campaign with a result!
