The Premier League campaign is only a formality for the Red Devils because all hopes are now with the Europa League campaign.

Winning it can take us back to the Champions League and improve the over all standards of the club.

Despite the large number of changes in the side, Alejandro Garnacho was given a start by Amorim against Brentford and the youngster did not disappoint.

He scored a stunning goal against the Bees, he provided an assist against them and he was Man United’s best rated player.

The Argentine received a rating of 8.2/10 from Sofascore, with 79% of his passess being accurate.

Perhaps most importantly, Garnacho finished the game without any injury concerns, a major boost for Amorim as the team prepares for its pivotal European clash.

His display underlined both his immense potential and his readiness to play a leading role in United’s most important fixtures.

There will be criticism of this defeat and some fans will criticise Amorim for his team selection as well as how he approached the game but it is important to understand that the league is irrelevant now and the only thing that matters this season is the Europa League campaign.

Although United have a heavy lead from the first leg, it cannot be taken for granted and after coming so close to European glory, Amorim made the right call to rest key players and rotate his squad.

The positive thing to come out from the match is the performance of both Garnacho and Amad Diallo but the manager will be concerned about the injury to Matthijs de Ligt.
