It would seem that some major updates are in store when it comes to FC Barcelona this summer. For the Catalan giants, it was a massive objective to reinforce the squad ahead of next season. As of right now, it seems that Barcelona are on the right track to do that.
Having just recently paid Joan Garcia’s release clause, it is expected that Barcelona will soon announce the official signing of the 24-year-old Spanish goalkeeper as well. Beyond that, however, the Catalan giants also seem to be keen on acquiring a new left-winger.
On that front, the most recent progress was made with the agent of Nico Williams. Felix Tainta, who represents the 22-year-old Athletic Club winger, recently met with Barcelona Director Deco and they had a meeting to discuss the possibility of the transfer of Nico Williams.
Now, as per the latest update from Mundo Deportivo, it is also being said that Williams is actually more than eager to join Barça this summer. He wants to play for the Catalan giants in the next season, and that is why he is stepping up in terms of his pursuit of joining them.
This news comes shortly after it was widely reported that Liverpool star Luis Diaz had become Barça’s primary target this summer. Moreover, with Ivan Perisic now also being in the picture, it is hardly surprising to see yet another major target being discussed as well.

As per MD, Williams is reportedly almost desperate to join Barcelona this summer. Despite having strong interest from Bayern Munich as well, the €70 million-rated winger, as per his Transfermarkt valuation, would ideally prefer to stay in La Liga and a move to Barcelona would be great for him in terms of his preferences as well.
Furthermore, he is no longer as crazy about needing guarantees as he was last season. At that point, only Dani Olmo was willing to take that leap of faith but it seems now that Nico Williams feels inclined to trust Barcelona as well as long as they can manage to pay his release clause.
Moreover, considering Lamine Yamal’s recent message on Instagram and the meeting with Deco, things seem to be heating up on the front involving Barcelona and Nico Williams. Ultimately, however, only time will tell if this potential operation goes far or not.
