It is the final weekend of the season in several leagues across the continent meaning there is plenty of drama in store.

Here are five fixtures you cannot afford to miss.

Panathinaikos v Olympiacos

A few months ago, a final day of the season clash ‘derby of the eternal enemies’ had the potential for utter chaos with both sides in the Greek title shake-up.

Unfortunately, both fell off the pace and it means that PAOK are now a win away from just the fourth title in their storied history.

But it doesn’t mean that a meeting between two of world football’s most hated rivals won’t be worth watching, with the higher league placing (and third place) at stake.

Olympiacos’ attention may be diverted by their upcoming Conference League final on home soil against Fiorentina, while Panathinaikos will be desperate to send them into that on the back of a chastening derby defeat.

Anderlecht v Club Brugge

There are few more complex leagues in Europe than the Belgian Pro League with its breakaway and split of points – run-of-the-mill it is not.

But thankfully, the scenario this weekend is very simple with just two games of the season remaining.

Anderlecht host Club Brugge on Sunday evening with the sides currently level on points at the top, making it a winner-takes-all showdown for the championship.

Form is with the visitors, who have won their last four in succession, while Anderlecht have just two wins in their last five as they stagger towards the finish line. Can they recover on home turf to take a big step towards a first title since 2017?

Galatasaray v Fenerbahçe

If this fixture is anything like the last meeting between the sides, we are in for a hell of a show between Turkey’s top two.

On that occasion in the Super Cup, a furious Fenerbahçe protested scheduling issues and refereeing grievances by fielding their U19 side, who stood still in letting Gala score an early opener before walking off the field in protest.

There could be even wilder scenes this weekend as Galatasaray have the chance to clinch the title by avoiding defeat in the campaign’s penultimate game, prior to which they have a six-point lead atop the table.

Fenerbahçe haven’t won an away Intercontinental Derby in three-and-a-half years. Nothing less than ending that streak will do or they will be forced to watch their rivals lift a second straight championship.

In the Women’s Super League, title rivals Chelsea and Manchester City go into the final round neck and neck at the summit, with Emma Hayes aiming to sign off at Kingsmeadow by lifting a fifth consecutive title.

City’s loss to Arsenal last time out has handed the Blues the initiative back and given that they possess the superior goal difference (+2), are aware that matching or bettering Gareth Taylor’s side’s result will see them retain their crown.

City will be expected to take care of business against Aston Villa but Chelsea have the trickier test and that is where all eyes will be as they travel to Manchester to face newly-crowned FA Cup holders Manchester United.

They are one of the game’s most improved sides, which has seen Marc Skinner rewarded with a new contract, and will aim to finish with a flourish by handing their rivals the title and ruin Hayes’ big send-off in the process.

Manchester City v West Ham

The Premier League season is also going down to the wire as Manchester City aim to end things top of the pile at the expense of another London outfit.

Most of the intrigue for Sunday’s big finale will come from the Etihad Stadium where it is home side’s title to lose on the final day as they pursue an unprecedented four-in-a-row.

Arsenal host Everton but even if the Gunners win, they know that it will not be enough unless West Ham do them a favour in David Moyes’ final game in charge.

A draw would be enough for Arsenal due to their marginal superior goal difference – provided they keep up their end of the bargain against the Toffees.

Get the popcorn ready. There may be one last title twist to take.
