FLW looks at five additions the expected new Foxes boss should try to move for.

Leicester City's long-standing managerial saga is finally set to reach its conclusion, with former Queens Park Rangers manager Marti Cifuentes expected to take the reins at the King Power Stadium.

The Spaniard was placed on gardening leave by the West London outfit in April amid talk of a potential move to West Bromwich Albion.

However, it has now been reported by Sky Sports that the 43-year-old has "verbally agreed" a two-year contract at the King Power Stadium and will take a pay cut in the process.

It has also been claimed that amid talk of a potential points deduction due to PSR breaches, Cifuentes is expected to have to move players on before recruiting incomings ahead of the upcoming Championship season which, for the Foxes, gets underway on August 10th against Sheffield Wednesday.

With that in mind, FLW has looked at five potential transfer targets he should look to make a move for as soon as possible.

Callum Wilson

Kickstarting this quintet is the vastly-experienced Callum Wilson, who is now a free agent following his departure from Newcastle United.

Given the aforementioned potential of tight purse strings in this part of the East Midlands, a move for the 33-year-old could still be somewhat ambitious in relation to wage demands, with the striker earning an ESTIMATED weekly salary of £46,000 per week.

However, following the departure of Jamie Vardy and scope for further exits in this department, acquiring the services of a man who has netted 88 goals in 239 Premier League appearances on top of 20 goals in just 45 Championship games during a title-winning season with AFC Bournemouth, could prove to be an extremely shrewd piece of business if he is willing to drop back into the EFL.

Tyler Morton

Wilfried Ndidi and Harry Winks were among City's top earners last season, and with the latter linked with a potential move to Everton or Manchester United, he could be replaced with the creative force of Tyler Morton in a deep-lying role.

The 22-year-old has just won the UEFA Under-21 European Championship with England, and has previously excelled on loan at second tier level with Blackburn Rovers and Hull City, with an impressive string of performances at the MKM Stadium seeing him linked with the likes of then-Bundesliga champions, Bayer Leverkusen.

Morton will be itching to prove himself as a regular once more, and with Leicester still likely to hold ambitions of an immediate Premier League return despite financial uncertainty, achieving such aims could be a vital stepping stone in his long-term development, as well as enhancing the combativeness and creative ability currently within the squad.

Viktor Johansson

Mads Hermansen impressed during the Foxes' title-winning campaign two seasons ago, and was one of very few bright sparks during the club's drab relegation season.

The Dane has been linked with Chelsea and West Ham United in recent days, and not many could begrudge him if he took the opportunity to remain in the top flight, leaving a major void needing to be filled.

That can be achieved with a move for one of the Championship's standout shot-stoppers, Viktor Johansson, who has stood out for both Rotherham United and now Stoke City, regardless of the overall performances of the respective clubs.

The Swede ranked second-highest for goals prevented and saves per 90 last term, as well as having the fifth-best save percentage in the division, showcasing the further danger the Potters would have likely found themselves in if it wasn't for his interventions.

Links to Bournemouth in March further showcase the top-flight potential which Johansson can still achieve in his career, although Stoke would undeniably demand a pretty penny, with the keeper still having two years left to run on his contract.

Louie Barry

It also remains to be seen whether Stephy Mavididi remains at the club next season, with the left-winger attracting interest from the likes of Atalanta, Bologna and Villareal.

Losing the 27-year-old who excelled at Championship level under Enzo Maresca would be a huge blow, but his services could be replaced with the greatly-coveted Louie Barry.

Barry has only made four appearances in the second tier, during an injury-hit loan spell with Hull City from Aston Villa last season, but previously lit up League One with 16 goals in 25 appearances for high-flying Stockport County.

A move for the 22-year-old could be seen as a risk, but with a £3.5m price tag mooted, which, at present cannot be parted with by Hull due to current financial uncertainty, other promotion rivals such as Sheffield United have been alerted to the situation, and it is a transfer race the Foxes should, at the very least, consider joining.

Ilias Chair

Rounding off this list is someone Cifuentes knows extremely well, and has been linked with a move to the King Power previously, in the form of Moroccan playmaker, Ilias Chair.

Speaking of Moroccan talents, Leicester are expected to lose one of their own in the form of Bilal El Khannouss, with the club reportedly placing a £22.1m price tag on the 21-year-old after impressing last season following his £21m move from Genk.

The playmaker has been the subject of interest from several top-flight and European sides including Arsenal, and could be replaced by his compatriot who penned a long-term contract at Loftus Road in January.

Therefore, a move for the 27-year-old wouldn't come cheap, but Cifuentes was able to reignite his form in the 2023/24 season as the Hoops staved off relegation, before being able to register two goals and a further six assists last term despite fitness issues.

If Chair is able to remain fully fit and firing, he could be a dangerous weapon for the Spaniard once more, and he would also have a key advantage over his peers, already knowing his training methods and man-management skills.
