As Francisco Sierralta departs for Auxerre, FLW has looked at four other players who could leave Watford this summer.
It has already been yet another summer of change at Vicarage Road, with Watford parting company with Tom Cleverley and replacing him with former Real Valladolid boss Paulo Pezzolano.
The Uruguayan coach has his work cut out to try and make the Hornets a promotion-challenging force in the Championship once again, and it appears as though that task may be about to get a little tougher.
Reports indicate that the club are set to lose Chilean centre-back Francisco Sierralta to Ligue 1 side Auxerre for a fee believed to be in the region of £1.5 million.
With what is already a thin squad in Hertfordshire, Football League World has looked at four other players who could well follow Sierralta through the exit door at Vicarage Road.
The Georgia international is expected to be the subject of a fair bit of interest this summer, and he has already been linked with a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton in the past.
The 25-year-old Georgia international has not necessarily provided the goals that his quality suggests but he has displayed remarkable technical ability, and he has become one of the Championship’s best players.
Another player who is expected to have interest in his services would be former Rochdale winger Kwadwo Baah, who has had a breakthrough campaign at Vicarage Road this season.
Having joined from The Dale back in 2021, Baah didn’t make a league appearance for Watford until this season, having spent time out on loan at Fortuna Dusseldorf and then Burton Albion.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Watford shunned interest from Wolfsburg for Baah, and it would seem likely that clubs will circle the former England and Germany youth international once again.
Last summer, Louza had plenty of interest in him, including from Saint-Etienne, but eventually stayed with the Hornets and went on to make 33 appearances for the club in the Championship, having spent a chunk of the 2023/24 season out on loan at Lorient in Ligue 1.
PAOK Salonika and Trabzonspor also showed an interest in the Morocco international last year and, despite spending the season back in England, it would be no surprise to see him the subject of interest from elsewhere, once again, and potentially move on from the club he joined in the summer of 2021 from Nantes.
Another player that has spent time away from Watford on a temporary basis would be centre-back Ryan Porteous, who joined fellow Championship side Preston North End on a loan deal before the end of the winter transfer window.
The 26-year-old Scotland international, famous for being sent off in the opening game of UEFA EURO 2024 as Germany hammered Scotland by five goals to one, may not make his move to Deepdale a permanent one but it could well be the case he does still move on from Watford again this summer.
