3 Real Madrid, 1 Barcelona: La Liga’s statistical Team of the Month for August | OneFootball

The Team of the Month for August in La Liga, based on statistics, has this week been unveiled online.

And it features players from both of Spanish football’s biggest clubs.

From Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid squad, a trio of players have been selected by statisticians Whoscored, based on their efforts en route to three wins from three to open the campaign.

The Blancos stars in question come in the form of Dean Huijsen, Arda Güler, and Kylian Mbappé.

Shifting focus to Hansi Flick’s reigning champions Barcelona, and just one player gets the nod, in the form of attacking prodigy Lamine Yamal.

It is Villarreal who actually boast more representatives than any other club, with all of Santiago Mouriño, Sergi Cardona, Pape Gueye and Nicolas Pépé getting the nod.

Rounding things out, meanwhile, are Aarón Escandell (Real Oviedo), Kike Salas (Sevilla) and Nico Williams (Athletic Club).
