FC Barcelona are set to finalise one of their biggest outgoing transfers of the summer so far, with Pau Victor now in Portugal completing his medical ahead of a permanent move to Sporting Braga. The 23-year-old striker was left out of the club’s Asia tour as negotiations with the Portuguese side reached an advanced stage earlier this week.
A full agreement has been reached between the clubs, with Barça expected to receive €12 million plus €3 million in add-ons. Girona, who sold Pau Victor to Barcelona last summer, will receive 30% of the final fee as part of a previously agreed clause.
The striker has already agreed personal terms with Braga and is expected to sign a five-year contract later today. If everything proceeds as planned, as reported by SPORT, the deal will be made official within hours or by the weekend.
Barcelona had received several approaches for the striker over the past few weeks, though most Spanish clubs were only interested in a loan with a purchase option.
Initially, the Catalans were open to selling 50% of the player’s rights for €6 million. However, Braga emerged as the most serious contender after receiving advice from Jorge Mendes.
Talks accelerated over the past few days, and a preliminary agreement was reached on Wednesday. As per the report from SPORT, Pau Victor flew to Portugal on Thursday night to undergo his medical examinations.
Although contracts are yet to be signed, all terms are settled. The player will begin training with his new team immediately after the move becomes official.
Braga’s sporting project played a major role in convincing the player. Pau Victor was attracted by the opportunity to be the team’s leading striker and develop at a club known for boosting the value of young players.
His transfer will also provide Barcelona with crucial financial relief, helping the club increase its salary cap ahead of registering new signings like Marcus Rashford and Joan García, along with contract renewals signed this summer.
Pau Victor joined Barcelona from Girona following a standout loan season with Barcelona Atletic, where he showcased his natural goal-scoring instincts. Barça completed a permanent deal for just €2.7 million, but Girona retained a significant percentage of any future transfer.
The young striker made headlines during last summer’s pre-season campaign by finishing as the team’s top scorer, which earned him a spot in the senior squad under Hansi Flick.
Despite limited playing time during the 2024–25 season, Victor remained a model professional. Hansi Flick spoke with the player earlier this summer and informed him that the club planned to sign another forward, which would limit his opportunities in the first team.
The player accepted the situation and began exploring options across Europe. Braga’s project ultimately convinced him to make the switch. With the deal now all but complete, Pau Victor is ready to start a new chapter in his career as Sporting Braga’s main attacking reference.
