FLW looks at two players the Foxes should press forward to sign ahead of the transfer deadline.
There is under a week remaining for Leicester City to do transfer business ahead of a hectic and crucial four-month period of non-stop action.
For Leicester City supporters, this summer window has represented plenty of outgoings and lots of uncertainty regarding the club's financial situation, with Marti Cifuentes only bringing in the services of the experienced Asmir Begovic thus far since becoming the Foxes boss in July.
Plenty of high-profile names have, and are still expected to leave the King Power Stadium between now and the transfer deadline of 7pm on September 1st, meaning it is imperative that the East Midlands side replace those and add to their squad with the quality required to mount an immediately sustainable promotion bid in the Championship as a newly-relegated side.
With that being said, Football League World have identified two players who should be at the top of Leicester's transfer radar before next Monday's cut-off point.
Leicester may have won two of their opening three Championship games against Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic, but it must be said that their experienced and natural centre-forward options of Jordan Ayew and Patson Daka have looked uninspiring.
Ayew, in particular, has averaged almost four shots across those games yet averaged an xG of just 0.5, meaning further quality and depth is a must.
The club have been linked with a potential loan-to-buy move for Idrissa Gueye of Metz, but a move for the promising Senegalese forward is likely to be impacted by the EFL's restrictions on the club due to breaching Profitability and Sustainability regulations, meaning no transfer fees can be paid according to Alan Nixon.
In that case, the Foxes must target the likes of David Datro Fofana on loan from Chelsea, in a move that would also benefit the 22-year-old's development away from Stamford Bridge.
The forward offers quick movement and power, which can be a lethal combination of attributes at this level when facing off against opposing centre-backs, and he would certainly get regular gametime if one of the aforementioned Ayew or Daka depart in the near future.
Amid fitness issues, the three-time Ivory Coast international scored twice in nine games on loan at Turkish side Goztepe last term, and was linked with a potential move to the second tier with Hull City and Sunderland last summer after netting four times and registering a further assist in just 15 Premier League games for Burnley during the Clarets' relegation season of 2023/24.
If the club's hands are tied in terms of finances, it could be a no-brainer for Cifuentes to negotiate a loan move in which no extra fees are paid for his services across the season.
Another area which the East Midlands side are extremely short in terms of depth and experience is the attacking midfield department, and concerns are likely to grow in that regard as Bilal El Khannouss looks destined to leave the King Power Stadium before the window shuts.
Teenager Louis Page was selected to start against Charlton last time out in an advanced midfield role, but if the club are serious about recruiting high-quality performers to aid a promotion push, the signing of Calvin Stengs is a must amid links that Leicester face competition from Pisa and Celtic for the Dutchman's signature.
The 26-year-old is no longer in Robin van Persie's plans at Feyenoord after an injury-hit last campaign saw him feature just 16 times across all competitions after proving to be an 'assist king' in 2023/24, providing 16 times and scoring eight in all competitions for his teammates as the Rotterdam side fell short of retaining the Eredivisie title.
Stengs also has experience of eight caps for the Netherlands and spells in France with OGC Nice and Belgium during a title-winning loan spell with Royal Antwerp to call upon.
If he is able to replicate his form of two seasons ago in the Championship, those in the centre-forward areas could benefit massively from his services as well as an equally impressive individual goal return, which is exactly what Foxes supporters saw from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall under former boss, Enzo Maresca during their title-winning season.
