Bristol Rovers have given themselves every chance of preserving their League One status in recent weeks.

The Gas picked up vital back-to-back victories at home against play-off chasers Huddersfield Town and Bolton Wanderers earlier this month, which has resulted in a six-point gap developing between them and the bottom four.

Inigo Calderon will know that his side still need to win a few more games between now and the end of the season to guarantee safety, especially after they were beaten 5-0 away at Lincoln City last time out, but their fate is firmly in their hands as things stand.

Staying in League One is crucial for Bristol Rovers, especially when you consider that they have a couple of players who may be sold for less than their true value if they do suffer relegation to League Two.

Bristol Rovers could sell two players for seven-figure fees

We asked our Bristol Rovers fan pundit, Ziggy Carter, which players he thinks could be sold for the most money in the summer, and what price-tags he would put on their heads.

"I think the two players at our club that would sell for the most are Connor Taylor and Kamil Conteh," Ziggy said.

"I think the club would want them to go for £1m each, I would say, because we bought Conteh for, I think, around £600-700k, and I think selling him for £1 million would prove that what we are doing as a club is working.

"We are getting the players, we are making good amounts of money, and that can be put into the infrastructure of the club.

"I think Connor Taylor would also be one of those players who are up there in terms of being worth seven figures, because of how he has performed for us so far.

"He is massive, wins pretty much all of his aerial duels, and although he spent some time in the Championship, because he was on loan at us when we got promoted, he went back to Stoke, performed a little bit, but could not get a run in the side.

"I think being in League One has done him a world of good, and he could step up to the Championship."

Bristol Rovers have sold several players in recent years

If the Gas do sell Conteh and Taylor this summer, it would not be the first time that they have moved players on for significant transfer fees in recent years.

They sold striker Jonson Clarke-Harris for a fee believed to be in the region of £1.25 million in the summer of 2020.

Bolton paid a reported fee of £750,000 to sign forward Aaron Collins from them towards the end of the January transfer window in 2024.

Just last summer, newly-relegated League One side Huddersfield Town signed midfielder Antony Evans from the Gas for around £450,000.

Those examples suggest that the Gas would do well to sell Taylor and Conteh for a combined total of £2 million, especially given the recent injury history of the latter, but there is no doubt that they could be moved on for more significant fees as long as they remain a League One club.
