It is hardly a secret that Zinédine Zidane is waiting for the France job. He hasn’t got much longer to wait, either. Didier Deschamps has already announced that he will leave his post with Les Bleus after the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Zidane is the overwhelming favourite to succeed him in the role.
The former Real Madrid manager has been out of work since leaving Los Blancos in 2021, and there is no question of taking a role before the France job becomes vacant, it seems. As per a report from L’Équipe, he has turned down a significant approach from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal in recent days.
The offer from the Gulf State was valued at €100m for a contract of just one year. It would have allowed him to depart and take the job with France the following summer. However, after a day of reflection, Zidane opted to refuse the offer. It is Simone Inzaghi who is instead expected to take the job at Al-Hilal.
