Two of Zinedine Zidane’s kids are opening the door to potentially playing in Ligue 1 one day.

Luca Zidane (26) has played his entire career in Spain and currently plays his club football in the Spanish Segunda Division with Granada. His brother Théo (22) plays in that same division for Cordoba.

“We want to play in the First Division, whether in Spain, France, Italy or England. That is our will. We are ambitious competitors and workers,” they said in an interview with L’Équipe.

Luca, who came through at Real Madrid during his father’s tenure as the senior coach, revealed that he’d had an opportunity to join Ligue 1 side Montpellier HSC last season “as a number two”.

He says his thoughts now are on Granada, the club he signed a three-year contract with last summer. The goalkeeper has played 15 matches for them between the sticks domestically this season.

Luca went on to say: “I have almost 150 games in La Liga 2, with experiences with Rayo and Real too. I may need to make a new choice in June. I want to settle down and be efficient in a first division.”

Théo, meanwhile, notes the difference between the French and Spanish leagues. “In France, it is much more individualistic than in Spain, where we are much more collective,” he said.

Both players played for France at various youth levels and Luca helped them win the UEFA U-17 Championship in 2015.

Théo signed a two-year contract with Cordoba in July 2024. The eldest of the four Zidane boys, Enzo is the only one who has previously played in France at Rodez. Before moving to Juventus and then Real Madrid Zizou featured with AS Cannes and Girondins de Bordeaux when they were in Ligue 1 in the 90s.

He helped the latter win the Intertoto Cup in 1995, while the made the final of the Europa League in 1995-96, when it was known as the UEFA Cup.

Enzo retired in September to focus on family matters and his own investments.
