Nicola Zalewski had the opportunity to flee Roma in the summer as he was put on sale due to his short-term contract. He was welcomed back into the squad by Ivan Juric after being frozen out in September. He mused on what happened from Poland’s setup (via Corriere dello Sport).
“I was very close to Galatasaray and then to PSV in the summer. I analyzed everything and came to the decision that it was best for me to stay in Rome. In the end, I’m a fan of the team. I’ve never thought about whether it’d be better for me to leave at that time or at the end of my contract. I’m young. The most important thing to me is to play. I was eager to do it with the Giallorossi.”
Zalewski dished on his temporary exile from the squad.
“I was surprised by the reaction of the management, but it’s water under the bridge now. Surely, it’s not pleasing to be booed by the supporters of the club I love, but, if the results are poor, they can’t be satisfied.”
Zalewski thanked his coaches and singled out one.

Tactics are important in Italy, so, in reality, I don’t have a lot of freedom.” “The Special One truly backed me and was key for my career. He promoted me in the first team, and I could count on him off the pitch as well. He stayed close to me after the passing of my father. I wish every boss had his personality.”
