Xavi moves one step closer to becoming Manchester United manager as Erik ten Hag sacked | OneFootball

The biggest news hitting the footballing world on Monday is the sacking of Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag. Following his side’s 2-1 defeat away against West Ham, the Man United board decided enough is enough and showed the Dutchman the door.

At the minute there are several candidates leading the race for the job at Old Trafford, with the prospect of Ruud Van Nistelrooy making his interim spell leading the way, but ex-Barcelona manager Xavi is in with a shout as well.

One clue which points the the legendary midfielder possibly heading to Manchester could be found on his wife’s Instagram, where Xavi could be seen with his son wearing a Man United top.

This could very well be coincidental, and Xavi’s son could just so happen to be a Man United fan, but following recent rumours that Xavi’s entourage had travelled to Manchester for talks, this could be a potential clue.

Xavi’s time at Barcelona was reasonably successful, steering the club to a win percentage of 64% and winning the league in 2023, but mounting poor results last season saw him axed in favour of Hansi Flick in May.

It could be worth keeping an eye on Xavi as the race for the Manchester United hot seat gets underway in the days to come.
