It has only been a few months since Xabi Alonso has taken charge of Real Madrid, replacing Carlo Ancelotti.
But the Spaniard has seen himself assume a great control of Real Madrid’s transfer policy as well as youth development strategy.
To that end, a recent report from The Athletic has offered a comprehensive overview of Real Madrid’s prospects heading into the new season.
The report also laid out Xabi Alonso’s key role in Real Madrid’s new project and how he has enjoyed a lot of control.
The report points out how Xabi Alonso was involved in making decisions at Real Madrid even before his appointment became official.
In fact, one would assume that the Spanish tactician had a key role to play in the acquisition of Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth as well as Franco Mastantuono from River Plate.

The report adds that going forward, Alonso is expected to enjoy greater autonomy compared to previous Real Madrid coaches, including Carlo Ancelotti.
From a tactical perspective, the former Bayer Leverkusen coach is expected to profess an attacking style of football, which is also entertaining.
Alsono will also play a key role in promoting more young players in the Real Madrid first-team. The Spaniard has already promoted several youth players into the first-team training so far this summer and more players may join in the coming future.
The coming weeks could be even more critical for Alonso as he looks to kickstart Real Madrid’s La Liga campaign on a positive note.
But more importantly, the coach will look to finalise the squad and perhaps even sign a new centre-back, if necessary.
