The Favourites: Spain

Obviously. The world champions are simply stacked with talent and they manage to package it together with a dominant style of play.

Aitana Bonmati, Alexia Putellas, Mariona Caldentey, Clàudia Pina, Salma Paralluelo. And those are just some of the names likely to score and create, there's just as much talent at the other end of the pitch too with the likes of Ona Battle, Patri Guijarro, Irene Paredes and Olga Carmona.

You couldn't ask for a greater combination of technical ability, tactical intelligence, and know-how at the highest level.

The Key Clash: Belgium vs Italy

Spain are expected to top the group, but who will join them? Italy are the favourites, but they will not have it easy against a Belgium side who beat England back in April.

Belgium went on to beat Portugal 3-0 in June in the Nations League, and the teams will meet again on matchday three. If Belgium can head into that one having taken points off of Italy, they will fancy their chances of repeating their 2022 trip to the knockout rounds.

Key Players

  1. Clàudia Pina (Spain) - It's a first big tournament for the 23-year-old, who made two sub appearances in 2022 and wasn't at the 2023 World Cup. Pina scored 10 UWCL goals in 2024/25, plus another 10 in Liga F. Her combination play will help her fit into a Spain side that dominates possession, but her biggest asset will be the drive and directness she offers when needed.
  1. Manuela Giugliano (Italy) - A holding midfielder who can dictate games, plus she's an ace from set‑piece situations, Giugliano's vision and passing unlock stubborn defences and inject tempo when needed. Expect Italy's play to go through her.
  1. Tessa Wullaert (Belgium) - Belgium’s all‑time record goalscorer, pacey, a clincal finisher. Wullaert can link play too but it's her sharp movement and composure that Belgium will be leaning on when chances present themselves.
  1. Jéssica Silva (Portugal) - In a tough group, the Gotham winger will provide the vital productivity and creativity that Portugal require if they are to make it into the knockout stage.

Predicted qualifiers

Spain, Italy
