Saturday’s headliner sees a former Wolves star return to Molineux
Manchester City travel to Wolves on Saturday evening to get their 2025-26 Premier League campaign underway.
Boosted by some new recruits including one star signed from Wolves, Pep Guardiola’s side will be looking to put last season’s up-and-down form firmly behind them and launch an early challenge for their seventh league title in nine years.
Wolves, meanwhile, will hope one of their own new arrivals - fresh from a stand-out showing at the Club World Cup - can help fill the void left by the departed Matheus Cunha.
Wolves vs Man City is scheduled for a 5:30pm BST kick-off on Saturday, August 16, 2025.
The match will take place at Molineux Stadium.
TV channel: In the UK, the game will be televised live on Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Ultra HD.
Live stream: Sky Sports subscribers can also stream the contest live online via the Sky Go app and website.

Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera could be eased back into action after recovering from a knee injury that kept him out for most of last season, but Saturday should bring a competitive debut for his countryman Jhon Arias.
The Colombian attacker starred for his previous club Fluminense at the Club World Cup this summer, creating more chances than any other player at the tournament, and Vitor Pereira will hope he is ready to step up as the creative force in his side after former No10 Cunha’s exit.
New signing David Moller Wolfe could be set for his Premier League debut at left wing-back while up front, Jorgen Strand Larsen is first-choice.
Man City could be without Ballon d’Or-winning midfielder Rodri, who is dealing with a groin injury sustained during the Club World Cup. Claudio Echeverri and Phil Foden are also doubts with ankle injuries, while Mateo Kovacic could miss out as well.
Tijjani Reijnders and fellow summer signing Rayan Cherki could make their Premier League bows while Erling Haaland should lead the line, having been the only player to feature in both halves versus Palermo. Ederson looks likely to begin the season as City’s No1 goalkeeper ahead of James Trafford despite transfer rumours linking him with Galatasaray.
Rayan Ait-Nouri has impressed since his arrival from Wolves, and should start at left-back against his former club, with Rico Lewis and Matheus Nunes competing for a starting berth on the opposite flank. 20-year-old Nico O’Reilly is also an option at left-back as well as in central midfield.

City’s short pre-season and relatively poor away form in 2024-25 makes this match a little difficult to call.
However, Wolves failed to win any of their six friendlies this summer, and may struggle to replace the attacking threat carried by the departed trio of Cunha, Ait-Nouri and club captain Nelson Semedo.
City won home and away against the Old Gold last season, with a one-goal margin each time. It could be another cagey affair here, but Guardiola and co should have enough for another victory.
Man City to win, 2-1.
The overall competitive head-to-head history between these two clubs is closer than younger football fans might expect; but when we look at recent results, things become much more one-sided.
Since recording three straight wins against City back in 2019, Wolves have lost all but one of their last 10 meetings with this weekend’s opponents.
That sole win in the last five seasons came at Molineux in September 2023, in a result the Old Gold will hope to repeat on Saturday evening.
