Cincinnati.- In front of more than 21,000 fans who gathered at TQL Stadium, Guadalajara played great soccer and controlled the game, defeating Cincinnati 1-2 in the last match of the group stage of the 2025 Leagues Cup. Following this, El Rebaño concluded its participation in the binational competition and will return to action in the 2025 Apertura.

As we predicted, Chivas was vastly superior to an opponent that was by no means easy, as it is currently ranked as the second-best team in the MLS this season. In fact, the Rebaño took all three points with an unprecedented lineup, as Gabriel Milito fielded a new team that quickly adapted to the game plan and showed good things with and without the ball.

The first half of the game was a Red-and-White concert, as Gabriel Milito's men made their mark by taking control of the ball and setting up passing circuits all over the field. Cincinnati could do little to recover the ball, as Guadalajara showed fine teamwork and created scoring opportunities, allowing them to go into halftime with the lead.

El Rebaño had an extraordinary second half, as in addition to extending their lead, they defended well near their goal, and despite Cincinnati throwing a lot of players into attack, the Rojiblancos were able to counter the attacks and deservedly came away with the victory.

The MVP

Without a doubt, we must highlight the performance of Efraín Álvarez, who scored a goal and provided an assist in the match against the Americans. With this, the left-footed player scored his first official goal as a Chivas player.

After this match, Guadalajara will travel to Torreón, as they will face Santos on Sunday in the fourth round of the 2025 Apertura.

The Goals

0-1: Efraín Álvarez opened the scoring in the 24th minute from the penalty spot, as Cincinnati's defense clearly brought down Alan Mozo inside the area and the Rebaño's left-footed striker flawlessly converted the penalty kick. 0-2: Guadalajara extended their lead in the 57th minute thanks to Armando González, after good pressure from Diego Campillo and Efraín Álvarez, who caused a turnover in the final quarter of the field. After a brilliant pass from 'Efra', 'La Hormiga' sent it into the net with a right-footed shot.1-2: Cincinnati closed the gap in the 66th minute thanks to Dávila Mosquera, who shot low at the near post and beat the Rojiblanco goalkeeper.
