If all goes according to plan, Friday will mark the official announcement date, with Sky Germany confirming, “The announcement of the Florian Wirtz transfer is planned for Friday,” adding, “Everything is done and sealed – medical has been booked.”

Record-breaking deal highlights club’s ambition

Liverpool have already reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen over a staggering €136.3 million (£116.5 million) package. This includes an initial €117.5 million (£100 million) and a further €18.8 million in performance-related add-ons.

Should those add-ons be activated, this could become a new British transfer record, surpassing the £115 million Chelsea paid for Moises Caicedo. It is also the most expensive deal in both Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen’s histories, underlining the scale and ambition of the project under Arne Slot.
