With Nicolas Kuhn also having upped sticks to join Como it’s certainly left Celtic extremely short in the wide areas, so it’s imperative that we rectify that and move quickly to bring in a minimum of two new additions in that area as a matter of urgency.
Our club in’t exactly known for doing business quickly, but I’ve got a feeling that things are happening behind the scenes and we will soon be welcoming new additions to the club. If I am wrong then you’d have to ask what is actually going on, especially as there is also background noises suggesting Daizen Maeda could be sold to Brentford this summer. Surely that can’t be allowed to happen?

At the moment we only have Maeda, evergreen James Forrest and Yang – who has been rumoured to be a player of interest for Norwich City – who can operate on the flanks, and possibly Benjamin Nygren, so I think it’s safe to say that Brendan will be urging the moneymen to push through multiple deals pretty much immediately.
I can’t see Rodgers planning to use Nygren as a winger, instead he’ll play in the midfield as an attacking number eight alongside Reo Hatate.

With Nicolas Kuhn, Luis Palma and Marco Tilio all leaving we will have the budget to plug the gap that their departures have left, so all the signs point to some business being done in the not to distant future.
And while the above is concerning there is one positive perhaps hiding in plane sight. If Celtic are so dramatically changing the squad this summer it can only be at the insistence of the manager and if that is indeed the case then that would surely not be happening unless Celtic were pretty certain that Brendan Rodgers was going to be here to work with this new look squad for more than one season.

Of course of the deals don’t happen – for whatever reason – ie other clubs sensing our increasing need so increasing the asking price -then you can’t see Brendan working with only remaining wingers then perhaps the best of the B Team.
Stakes are therefore very high indeed in the Celtic boardroom. Stay tuned…
