Arsenal’s William Saliba has openly expressed his desire to stay at the club, reflecting on his happiness and the goals he hopes to achieve. With two years remaining on his current contract at the end of the season, speculation surrounding his future has intensified, particularly with links to top clubs like Real Madrid. However, Saliba remains focused on his development at Arsenal and his ambition to secure major trophies with the club.
The 23-year-old defender has spent over two years at Arsenal and is fully committed to the club’s ongoing journey. In recent statements, Saliba confirmed that while there have been no discussions regarding a contract extension yet, he feels no urgency. “I’m really happy here,” Saliba shared. “I’ve been here for two years and a half as well. There is nothing. I’m happy here and I want to continue here.”

Saliba’s desire to stay is coupled with his commitment to Arsenal’s success. He has set his sights on winning significant titles, knowing that his legacy at the club will be defined by silverware. “I want to win big things here,” he said. “If you leave this club without winning anything, the fans will forget about you. I want to win big things here.”
Despite growing rumours of potential interest from clubs like Real Madrid, Saliba remains calm about his future. He acknowledged that his current contract still has two years to run and stated that there is no rush to engage in contract negotiations. “Not yet,” he replied when asked about any talks over a new deal. “Because, yes, we have some years [to go]. So there is no rush at the minute. I’m happy here.”
Saliba’s relaxed approach shows his maturity and focus on the present. His commitment to helping Arsenal achieve their goals is clear, and for now, he is fully invested in playing his part to ensure the team succeeds.

Saliba’s ambitions extend beyond just being a regular starter for Arsenal. The defender has expressed a clear desire to become the best in the world. Despite his impressive performances in recent seasons, he believes there is more to achieve. “I want to be one day the best defender in the world,” Saliba said. “I know I have to work a lot and to win trophies as well – but that’s my dream.”
However, Saliba is his own toughest critic. Reflecting on his current season, he admitted that his performances have not been at the level he aspires to. He particularly praised his defensive partner, Gabriel, for his excellent form. “I think I am not so far, but I am not the best at the moment because, for me, this season I have not been so good,” Saliba confessed. “I have to review my season, I have to work on my game.”

Saliba is determined to improve and believes that winning trophies is crucial to cementing his place among the world’s elite defenders. “When you win trophies, you can say you’re the best. We didn’t win and this season I have not helped my team a lot to win trophies,” he said. “But we are still in the Champions League, the Premier League is not finished. So I have to push, to demand more of myself to help my team.”
While Arsenal’s current season has had its ups and downs, Saliba remains optimistic. His focus on becoming a better player, improving his concentration, and helping the team win is indicative of his professionalism and ambition. As Arsenal continues its pursuit of both the Premier League title and success in Europe, Saliba’s contributions will undoubtedly be pivotal in shaping the club’s future.
