Other than the blip in form that they faced in November and December last year, FC Barcelona have been quite excellent throughout this 2024-25 season.
Their last win against Benfica, 3-1, which allowed them to reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, has further shown why the Blaugranes are one of the most deadly and exciting teams in Europe.
But away from the pitch, it is also quite clear that the Catalan team is highly confident of its chances of winning all the major trophies this season, and Mundo Deportivo has outlined some reasons that allow Barcelona to get this confidence.
As things stand, the Blaugranes are alive and competing in all three major competitions, i.e., the Copa del Rey, La Liga, and the UCL, while already having won the Spanish Super Cup.
In the Copa del Rey, they are tied 4-4 with Atletico Madrid on aggregate in the semi-final, with the second leg yet to be played. In La Liga, they are at the top of the table and still have a game in hand over their main competitors, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. In the UCL, they have already advanced to the quarter-finals, where they will face Borussia Dortmund.
Players like Raphinha, Gavi, Pedri, and Balde all expressed their confidence of winning these trophies after the win against Benfica, even though Hansi Flick has highlighted the difficulties lying ahead and trying to keep the feet of his players on the ground.
But the German coach has been essential in this good run of his Barcelona team, and in addition to instilling a winning mentality and competitive nature, another way he has kept his team alive in all competitions is by regular rotations and effective management of his most important players.
His record of winning a treble with Bayern Munich in the past also raises the hopes of him winning everything once again this season.
Similarly, the team’s amazing run of form has also seen them score a very high number of goals, 128 in total, far ahead of any other top European team. They are currently the top scorers in La Liga with 71 goals and also in the UCL with 32 goals.
Most of these goals have been scored by the trident of Raphinha, Yamal, and Lewandowski, and with these stars leading their forward line, the hopes of winning everything further receive a boost.
With their attack firing on all cylinders and Flick managing the squad expertly, Barcelona’s treble dream feels more achievable than ever. Their confidence is backed by results, and if they maintain this level, winning it all could soon become a reality.
