Arsenal return to action after almost two-and-a-half weeks off when they host Fulham in an all-London clash in the Premier League tonight.

The Gunners’ early exit from the FA Cup this season means they weren’t involved in a standalone quarter-final weekend immediately following the recent international break, affording them some extra rest ahead of the season run-in.

Though the title race still looks a lost cause with runaway leaders Liverpool beginning the week 12 points clear of their closest challengers with only nine games remaining this term, Mikel Arteta’s side will still be eager to trim that lead back down into single digits before Wednesday’s Merseyside derby at Anfield and take advantage of any further slip-ups from the Reds after they exited the Champions League at the last-16 stage and lost the Carabao Cup final in back-to-back outings.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last five games across all competitions after a 1-0 home win over Chelsea last time out and will want to keep building momentum with their massive two-legged Champions League quarter-final tie against holders Real Madrid fast approaching.

Fulham, meanwhile, will be smarting after their Wembley dreams were dashed by a dismal 3-0 home defeat by capital rivals Crystal Palace in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.

That result rather took the shine off what has otherwise been an excellent season under rumoured Tottenham managerial target Marco Silva, who will want to brush it off as quickly as possible with a tough run including upcoming games against Liverpool, Bournemouth and Chelsea.

Arsenal have struggled against Fulham in recent times, with two frustrating draws sandwiched between a 2-1 loss at Craven Cottage last season that damaged their title hopes.

UK-based fans not going to the game who wanted to watch on television have been left disappointed, with it not being broadcast live on these shores.

Instead, it’s Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United at the City Ground that will be shown live on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate on Tuesday night.

Arsenal vs Fulham could have been available to show having remained in its original slot amid a full midweek round of top-flight games, only two of which are being televised live in the UK, but it was overlooked.

Arsenal’s final-ever trip to Goodison Park to take on Everton next weekend was though moved to a lunchtime slot for live TNT Sports broadcast, while their games coming up against Brentford, Ipswich and Bournemouth are all on Sky Sports.

Free highlights of Arsenal-Fulham will be available shortly after the game via the Sky Sports app and website, while there is a special midweek Match of the Day that airs on BBC One at 10:40pm BST on Wednesday night.
