Manchester City supporters could yet be issued with positive news surrounding the future of Pep Guardiola beyond the end of next season.

The 53-year-old will see his current Manchester City contract expire at the end of the forthcoming 2024/25 campaign, having last extended his agreement with the Etihad Stadium club in the Autumn of 2022.

Guardiola has already held face-to-face talks with both Khaldoon Al Mubarak and the club’s owner Sheikh Mansour in Abu Dhabi earlier this summer, however it remains to be seen as to whether his future was part of those discussions.

For now, Pep Guardiola will be allowed all the time and space to make a decision on his future in the comfort of his family, spending the most part of his summer break along the Croatian coastline.

However, while that decision remains ongoing, a new report has pointed towards tenuous feelings from within the game concerning the future of the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager.

According to the information of GIVEMESPORT’s Dean Jones, while Pep Guardiola was hinting that he might leave Manchester City after one more season at the end of the last campaign, there have recently been ‘whispers in football circles’ that he may sign a 12-month extension.

Upon winning the Premier League for a fourth consecutive season last campaign, Pep Guardiola told reporters, “The reality is I am closer to leaving than staying. We have talked with the club – my feeling is that I want to stay now.”

The legendary Manchester City manager continued, “I will stay next season and during the season we will talk. But eight or nine years – we will see.”

Manchester City’s chairman also took time to issue an update on the future of the club’s head coach, clarifying that whatever the decision is when such conversations take place, it will be the right call for all those involved.

Speaking during his end-of-season interview with the official club website, Khaldoon Al Mubarak explained, “We have had this conversation many times before, you know that, over the years of the contract.

“Pep has always been fully committed to this club, fully committed to every contract that he has signed with us. This decision on his future is always a decision that we will take together, and I have no doubt that we will find, as always, we have done, the right solution that works for Pep and works for us.”

Pep Guardiola and Manchester City are expected to formally return to work following their summer break in mid-July, with a tour of the United States and four matches along the east coast pencilled in for the end of the month and into early August.
