Manchester City will have the opportunity to win the UEFA Super Cup next season after winning the Champions League on Saturday night.

Pep Guardiola’s side won the UEFA Champions League for the first time last weekend, as Manchester City completed the treble, courtesy of Rodri’s 68th minute goal against Inter Milan in Istanbul.

The Spaniard smashed the Blues into the lead midway through the second half, before a series of incredible late saves from Ederson ensured Manchester City’s maiden Champions League triumph.

The European trophy will sit alongside the Premier League and FA Cup, with City having already lifted both trophies this season as part of an historic treble.

Manchester City won the Premier League title for the third successive season last month, while the Blues also lifted the FA Cup for the first time since 2019 with a 2-1 win over local rivals Manchester United at Wembley Stadium.

As a result of winning three trophies, Manchester City will have the chance to win an additional three pieces of silverware next season.

The Blues will meet Arsenal in the FA Community Shield after winning both the Premier League and FA Cup, while City will also compete to win the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup following their Champions League triumph.

The 2023 UEFA Super Cup will see Manchester City face Sevilla, as the annual fixture sees the winner of the Champions League face the winner of Europa League.

City faced Sevilla in the Champions League Group Stages last season, winning 4-0 in Spain and 3-1 at home.

The Super Cup will take place on Wednesday 16th August 2023, kicking off at 20:00 BST and will be played at the Stadio Georgios Karaiskakis, in Athens, Greece.

The stadium, which has a capacity of just over 30,000, will play host to the first UEFA club competition final in Greece since the 2007 UEFA Champions League Final between AC Milan and Liverpool.

City will play Sevilla just a matter of days after starting their 2023/24 Premier League campaign, with the first round of fixtures scheduled for Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th August 2023.
