Albion’s controlling shareholder Shilen Patel believes that Ryan Mason can have a massive mark on the club.
West Brom’s controlling shareholder Shilen Patel believes head coach Ryan Mason can “make a massive mark on the club” as he prepares for his first full-time managerial stint.
The American businessman appointed the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder at the beginning of June, with preparations in place to attack the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Black Country outfit have already kicked off their business with the addition of former Liverpool defender Nat Phillips, while The Hawthorns is expected to be a busy place for both incomings and outgoings.
The majority of the Baggies squad returned to begin pre-season training and find out more about Mason’s philosophy and ideas for the team.
In light of this, Shilen Patel has spoken with optimism about Mason being at the helm, believing he can be very successful during his time at The Hawthorns.
As posted on the club’s X account, West Brom controlling shareholder Shilen Patel has outlined his feelings about Ryan Mason taking the head coach position at The Hawthorns, believing the 34-year-old can have a significant impact leading the first-team.
Patel said: “Ryan (Mason) has all the qualities to make a massive mark on the club and its culture as he steps in to lead the men’s first team.
“I can’t wait for our fans and players to get to know him and his philosophy better.”
It’s fantastic to see Shilen Patel have such kind words to say about Ryan Mason, with a healthy relationship between the boss and hierarchy vital for a successful spell.
There’s no doubt Patel will do all he can to set Mason up for success by backing him in the summer transfer window, although shrewd recruitment will still be needed as the club navigates through challenging financial waters.
Despite this, Mason has learned off many different managers in his time at Spurs, developing multiple unique styles that could help get the best out of the West Brom squad.
If he can achieve this, then it is certain to be a fantastic spell for him personally and the football club, who could get the best years out of Mason before he eventually rises to the top of the game.
