An insight into the immediate future of Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has on Monday come to the fore online.

This of course comes fresh off an evening that all associated with Real will be eager to forget on Sunday.

After making the trip to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for the finale of the Spanish Super Cup, Los Blancos were put to the sword by five goals to two by arch rivals Barcelona.

In truth, the final scoreline could actually have been a whole lot worse for Real Madrid, with only Wojciech Szczęsny’s 2nd-half red card having prevented what would likely have been a further attacking onslaught on the part of Barca.

Post-match on Sunday, the finger of blame, particularly amongst fans of Los Merengues, was pointed squarely in the direction of Carlo Ancelotti.

Many, in fact, are of the opinion that the Italian should be sent on his way as soon as possible, with last night’s defeat the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Such supporters, however, need not get their hopes up when it comes to as much.

This comes amid confirmation on the part of widespread sources on Monday that Ancelotti’s job, for the time being at least, is safe.

As per Real Madrid insider Arancha Rodríguez of COPE, for one:

‘Today, the coach has the support of the club and is confident that he will overcome last night’s tough defeat and face the intense month of January with all the guarantees of fighting for the rest of the titles that Real Madrid aspires to.’
