West Ham United winger Luis Guilherme is attracting interest from Dutch giants Feyenoord, with reports suggesting the Eredivisie club is actively working on a summer move for the youngster.
West Ham, under the guidance of former sporting director Tim Steidten, signed Guilherme last summer after fending off stiff competition from multiple clubs.
“He is technically very gifted,” Steidten said (via West Ham’s website) upon the signing of the Brazilian ace.
However, his opportunities under managers Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter have been severely limited, with the winger featuring for just 50 minutes across seven Premier League appearances this season.
Despite arriving at West Ham with high expectations, he has struggled to break into the Hammers’ starting line-up, prompting the club to consider moving him on.
The Hammers were already open to offloading Guilherme during the January transfer window and even held discussions regarding a potential sale.
However, no deal materialised, leaving the possibility of a summer departure. Feyenoord reached the Champions League last 16 this season and view the Brazilian as a player who could bolster their squad for the next campaign.
West Ham reportedly want a fee of €30 million for Guilherme, a valuation that may prove problematic for Feyenoord. The Hammers need the funds to reinforce other areas of the squad.
Should the Hammers fail to secure a permanent deal at their asking price, they could be forced to negotiate a loan move to ease their wage bill and provide the player with much-needed game time. Feyenoord plan to sweeten the deal by adding an option to buy.
For Guilherme, the coming months will be crucial. With West Ham’s season entering its final stretch, he may hope for more opportunities under Potter to prove his worth.
However, unless he forces his way into West Ham’s plans, a summer exit looks increasingly likely, with Feyenoord ready to pounce on the situation.
