An away trip to Spurs saw City fight tooth and nail for an important three points in the race for a Champions League place.
On returning from international duty, Vivianne Miedema gave City the lead on 11 minutes through a headed effort.
But Beth England pulled one back for the hosts just after the half-hour mark in what was proving to be an evenly contested and exciting match.
With it looking set both teams would take one point, Aoba Fujino's late, thumping strike stole all three points for Taylor's team.
