West Ham United have made a blockbuster offer worth £57m for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran, according to various reports.
The Colombian striker was on West Ham's radar throughout the summer transfer window and looked at one stage to have his heart set on a move to London Stadium.
But after learning of Aston Villa's then-minimum asking price of £40m, West Ham went in another direction with their business and instead signed Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund.
Six months on and new West Ham head coach Graham Potter finds himself down to one recognised striker, Danny Ings, because of injuries to Fullkrug, captain Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio, who was lucky to escape with his life after being involved in a car crash prior to Christmas.
The Athletic report that West Ham have revived their interest in Duran, with a sensational offer worth £57m lodged with the Champions League hopefuls. It's expected that the offer will be rejected, with Villa no longer wanting to entertain bids for the lively 21-year-old.
Duran has scored seven Premier League goals for Villa this season, despite competing for minutes with Ollie Watkins up front, and signed a new six-year contract in October as a reward for his electrifying start to the season. His breakthrough under Unai Emery has also seen him bag a stunning winner in a memorable 1-0 win over Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
West Ham's joint top scorers are Tomas Soucek and Bowen with five goals, but the latter is currently sidelined after fracturing his foot in the heavy 5-0 defeat to Premier League leaders Liverpool at the end of December.
Antonio isn't expected to play again this season, while Fullkrug could be out of action for up to three months after suffering a hamstring injury in West Ham's FA Cup third round defeat, ironically at the hands of Villa. The two meet again in the Premier League on Sunday, having met on the first day of the season at London Stadium - a game Duran scored in to fire Villa to a 2-1 win.
