West Ham are hoping that significant interest in Mohammed Kudus can lead to a bidding war between suitors.
The Hammers are prepared to sell Kudus this summer to raise funds for a rebuild under Graham Potter.
Kudus has a release clause of £85m in his contract, a fee that interested sides are unwilling to meet. West Ham are prepared to sell the versatile forward for a lower amount but are hopeful competition for his signature can lead to a bidding war.
The Guardian are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur have had an enquiry worth £50m turned down. Spurs consider Kudus as a potential alternative to Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo, who has indicated a preference to join Manchester United.
Arsenal and Newcastle United have also been linked with Kudus, while Chelsea are keeping an eye on the situation.
Chelsea are working on a deal to sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund but view Kudus as an alternative. The West Londoners were offered the chance to sign the 24-year-old earlier in the transfer window.
Kudus joined West Ham from Ajax for a fee in the region of £36m in 2023 and scored 14 goals during an impressive debut campaign. His form dipped during a difficult season for West Ham last term, scoring just five times, as the Irons slumped to a 14th-place finish.
Since arriving in English football, Kudus has established a reputaiton as one of the division’s best dribblers. He led Europe’s top five leagues for successful take-ons in 2023/24 and ranked third on the same metric last season.
