FC Barcelona almost wrapped up the La Liga title last night as they got a 4-3 win over Real Madrid. This win means the Blaugranes are now seven points clear of their second-placed rivals, with only three matches left to play.

However, this scoreline could have been even fatter for the Catalans, as Fermin Lopez scored in the final moments of the game to make the score 5-3. However, this goal was chalked off after a VAR review for a handball in the buildup.

Fermin Lopez on his ruled-out goal

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the midfielder talked to the media after the game and commented on this goal. The Spaniard was sorry to see this goal not given but was still happy with his team’s win:

“I hadn’t noticed the handball—it was. It was a beautiful goal, but the important thing is that we won.”

Fermin also commented on the refereeing for this game, and did not mince his words a lot while doing that:

“You said it yourself—we’re used to it, it’s almost always the same. The important thing is that we won, and we leave those things aside… As Ronald said the other day, this referee was a tough one. There were decisions that could be looked at.”

But despite this win and the seven-point gap over Real Madrid, Fermin Lopez was clear that he is still not feeling like a champion for now:

“We don’t feel like champions until the very end.”

Barcelona still have one more game to win to ensure they pick the La Liga trophy this season. The fans would be keen to see this happening in the very next match, which is once again a special one for the Blaugranes, as they face Espanyol in the Barcelona derby. The team would be driven to get the trophy at the Cornella-El Prat.
