Two of the most senior figures at our club made a poignant visit to Anfield this week, laying personal tributes to honour Diogo Jota and Andre Silva after their tragic passing.

As reported by liverpoolfc.com, head coach Arne Slot and FSG CEO of Football Michael Edwards laid flowers at the growing memorial outside Anfield on Tuesday afternoon.
They were joined by Slot’s wife, Miryam, with the Dutchman’s handwritten note reading: “Diogo, we had the same dream and we fulfilled it together.
“Andre and yourself will forever be in our hearts – Arne, Miryam, Isa and Joep.”
Jota, who tragically died alongside his brother in a road traffic accident last Thursday, had only recently won the Premier League title under our new manager.
The Portuguese forward, signed from Wolves in 2020, played a crucial role in our attack over five seasons, scoring 65 goals and creating countless memories.
Edwards, who oversaw Jota’s transfer to the club as then-sporting director, added a powerful message of his own: “With love and remembrance in honour of Diogo Jota.
“Down to earth, determined, a great finisher and above all loved and respected by all who knew him…
“His impact reached far beyond the pitch. Our thoughts are with his family and everyone who held him dear. Rest in peace Diogo – from Michael Edwards and family.”

This visit from the club’s leadership comes just hours after players returned to Kirkby for the first training session since Jota’s death.
Arne Slot delayed pre-season to allow the squad to grieve and travel to Portugal for the funeral.
Meanwhile, flowers and personal tributes have also been left outside the official Liverpool FC Store in Dublin, and outside the AXA Training Centre, showing how this tragedy has touched every corner of the club.
These messages from our manager and Edwards highlight the depth of feeling inside the club and will further strengthen the emotional connection supporters feel to Jota’s memory.
