The question we were asking Newcastle United fans today was – Which Championship team do you want to reach the Premier League via the play-offs?

As Newcastle United fans, which of the four would you most like to join the top tier.

Leeds United and Burnley finished in the top two automatic promotion places.

Now this month we will find out the 20th and final club that will be playing in the 2025/26 Premier League.

The four clubs in the Championship play-offs are Bristol City, Coventry City, Sheffield United and Sunderland.

The final round of matches of the regular season in the second tier were played on Saturday 3 May 2025.

Bristol City v Sheffield United (8pm)

Coventry City v Sunderland (8pm)

So the question was, Which Championship team do you want to reach the Premier League via the play-offs?

The votes have all been counted and the Newcastle United fans voting came out with the following percentages, which club they want to get promoted:

14% Bristol City

25% Coventry City

37% Sheffield United

24% Sunderland

So just less than a quarter of the Newcastle United fans voting went for the Mackems (24%), with Coventry (25%) marginally ahead of them, but easily the highest was Sheffield United getting 37%.

Which I think we can also say, this means more than three quarters (76%) of the Newcastle United fans voting DON’T want Sunderland coming up!
