Levi Colwill has backed his Chelsea side to give PSG a more difficult test than both Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

The Blues take on the reigning Champions League winners in the final of the Club World Cup on Sunday.

PSG thrashed Real Madrid 4-0 in the semi-final of the competition, having also handed a heavy 5-0 defeat to Inter in the final of the Champions League in May.

And while Chelsea defender Colwill is under no illusions of the size of the task ahead of his side, he has backed the Blues to cause an upset.

“They’re an amazing team but we are not Inter Milan and Real Madrid,” Colwill said.

“We’re going to bring something different. We’re different players and we’re confident in ourselves that, hopefully, we’ll try and win the game.

“I think most people around the world will expect PSG to win but we don’t think that in our camp.

“I remember the first time in this tournament when I’d done media and I said to everyone we’re winners and we’ve made it this far. So it shows I’m not lying. The players have got a really top mentality and we’re excited to going in to this final.

“When you play for Chelsea, you’re not scared to play against anyone and that’s how we all feel.

“If everyone thinks we’re going to lose, we’ve got nothing to lose then. We’ve got to go out there and play our football and be confident and hopefully try and surprise everyone.”

PSG boast a stacked forward line which includes Ballon d’Or contender Ousmane Dembele, Bradley Barcola, Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia among boss Luis Enrique’s options.

But Colwill says Chelsea’s opponents should also be concerned about the attacking talent Chelsea have – including new signing Joao Pedro, who scored twice in the semi-final against Fluminense.

“I think he’s an amazing player,” Colwill said when asked about the Brazilian’s start to life at Chelsea. “I watched him at Brighton and I’ve known him since he was at Watford when everyone was talking about him.

“To see him here shows how amazing he is. I didn’t realise how good he is until you train with him and see him on the pitch. Top, top player.

“I think they’ll be looking at our forwards and knowing it’s not going to be an easy game. And that’s going to be a really good thing for us. It’ll help us. And when they turn up on the day, hopefully they’ll score goals for us and hopefully they’ll win the game for us.”

Colwill also says he is looking forward to testing his own abilities against what many think is the best team in the world, having enjoyed a fine season with Chelsea: “I think it gives me the confidence coming up against other great attackers to really believe in myself and see myself as a great defender.”
