Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders is now up to 16 goals for club and country in 2024-25 after finding the net in the exciting 2-2 draw between the Netherlands and Spain in the Nations League quarter-finals on Thursday night.

The Netherlands and Spain are level at 2-2 heading into the return leg in Valencia on Sunday. Nico Williams opened the scoring nine minutes in, the hosts hit back through Cody Gakpo and Reijnders, before a late leveller from Arsenal’s Mikel Merino.

The Rossoneri midfielder scored the goal that put the Netherlands into the lead.

He was involved at the start and end of the move, playing a one-two with Jeremie Frimpoing out on the right wing, before timing his run to perfection to get on the end of his teammate’s lay-off on the edge of the area, where he was able to slot a first-time finish past Unai Simon for 2-1.

The Milan midfielder is now up to 16 goals across all competitions for club and country, with nine in Serie A for the Rossoneri, three in the Champions League, one in the Coppa Italia, and now three in the Nations League for the Netherlands.

That tally makes Reijnders Milan’s joint-top goalscorer in Serie A, and the second highest overall across all competitions, behind USMNT star Christian Pulisic.
