Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski called on Ronald Araújo to stay put at the club beyond January, during an exchange between the pair on the back of the Spanish Super Cup.
The name of stopper Araújo has of course dominated the headlines across all of Spain over the course of the last week.
This comes amid mounting interest in the signature of the Uruguayan international from a number of leading clubs across the continent.
Juventus and Arsenal, to name but two, are understood to be eager to land Araújo before the winter transfer market is out.
The 25-year-old played his part this past Sunday, introduced off the bench for the injured Iñigo Martínez en route to Barcelona’s Supercopa finale drubbing of Real Madrid.
And it was in the aftermath of as much that Araújo was urged to reject the outside interest in his services, in favour of staying put.
As showcased in the footage below, since pieced together by expert lip readers and cited by Mundo Deportivo, Robert Lewandowski had the following to say on the back of the full-time whistle in Jeddah:
“You have to stay, Ronald. And then, in the summer, if you want, you can go. Now you’re going to play.”
