CCV is seen back in training at Lennoxtown

The 26 year-old returned to Lennoxtown yesterday having been sidelined for three matches prior to the international break. And in the training photos released by the club through their social media channels, CCV was seen training today.

Previously Brendan Rodgers declared that the American centre-back had been carrying a niggling injury for a while, and that going forward the club has to manage it sufficiently.

Auston Trusty filled the defensive spot

Carter-Vickers’ fellow countryman Auston Trusty filled the defensive spot alongside Liam Scales since the towering defender’s absence. Trusty, who signed from English Championship side Sheffield United in the summer for £6.5m, picked up his first national team cap in 16 months three days ago as Mauricio Pochettino’s USA suffered a 2-0 defeat to Mexico at the Estadio Akron.

CCV missed seven from 14 Champions League games

Absent for the Hoops hammering in Dortmund, Cameron Carter-Vickers welcome return is a huge addition for Brendan Rodgers as his side prepare to head for Bergamo in Wednesday’s Champions League clash.

Amazingly, across Ange Postecoglou’s two-year spell, and Brendan Rodgers’ return, Celtic have featured in 14 matches in Europe’s elite club competition. Cameron Carter-Vickers has only started in seven of those games.

Firstly though, Celtic are up against their nearest challengers in the league, Aberdeen. Tomorrow afternoon’s test will prove to be an entertaining one with the Dons travelling to Celtic Park with a 100% record in the league thus far and also having won a number of games in the League club as they were involved in the early rounds as they were not involved in European football this year.
