Vinicius issues statement following racist abuse against Barcelona stars at the Bernabeu | OneFootball

Following the racist abuse directed towards Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal at the Santiago Bernabeu last night during El Clasico, Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr. has come out and issued a statement in support of the youngster.

Yamal was targeted with racist slurs from a section of Real Madrid fans after he scored his goal during the 4-0 win on Saturday.

There have been clips circulating on the internet in which it can be seen that Raphinha, too, was at the receiving end of xenophobic insults.

Vinicius, who has faced the problem on several occasions and is the torch-bearer of the fight against racism, has now spoken out in support of the Barcelona stars.

“It’s regrettable what happened yesterday at the Bernabéu with racist insults. There is no place for these criminals in our society. All my support to Lamine, Ansu and Raphinha,” he wrote on X.

“I know that Madrid and the police will do things to identify and punish the guilty!!”

Real Madrid have also issued a statement condemning the incident and have already opened an investigation to identify the culprit, with La Liga also planning to take serious action.

It remains to be seen what action is taken against those involved and whether Real Madrid also face any sanction as a result.
